Emergency Appeal for Morocco

On September 8, 2023, a catastrophic earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 hit the Atlas Mountains, just south of Marrakesh. With a population of 840,000 people, Marrakesh has been the worst affected city. However, this disaster has also destroyed many rural and remote villages.

This has been the strongest earthquake to hit Morocco in 120 years surpassing the 1960 earthquake which demolished Agadir and killed between 12,000 and 15,000 people. Currently, over 2,800 people have been killed and more than 300,000 people have been affected.

In the most affected regions, families do not have access to food, clean water or shelter, with many sleeping outdoors in the cold in makeshift tents.

Our team is on the ground delivering much needed aid to families in desperate need as rescue efforts continue. It is a race against time to reach survivors with urgent relief as collapsed buildings may hinder aid from reaching those in need.

£100 can provide an emergency food parcel and water for flood survivors. Each food parcel lasts one month.

Give your Sadaqah and Zakat now to provide lifesaving relief to our brothers and sisters in Morocco.
