I'd like to give an Aqiqa on behalf of my newborn/child/myself

To offer an aqiqa or sacrifice for a newborn child is the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (saws).

An aqiqa involves the sacrifice of one goat for a girl / two goats for a boy, with the meat being distributed to disadvantaged communities.

It can be offered at any point after a child’s birth, but it is recommended to perform it within the first week. You can also offer an aqiqa on behalf of yourself, had your carers not been able to provide it previously.

Celebrate the birth of your new-born and share the joy with those in need through the Muslim Hands Aqiqa service!

As well as the sacrifice of the animal, we have Aqiqa Packs for Girls and Boys, which further include:
- a recommended book on parenting in Islam
- Sadaqah to cover the weight of a child’s hair (£10 at current silver prices).

Once your aqiqa has been completed, you will receive a full feedback report, including a photo of the aqiqa animal.

Note: Due to the global Coronavirus pandemic, delivery of the aqiqa could be delayed. This will not affect the validity of your aqiqa in any way.

If you have any specific instructions for your aqiqa, please contact our Donor Care team on 0115 911 7222 first.
